Conrad is one of the nation’s leading anthropological scholars. Currently the Julian H. Steward Collegiate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, he has been elected to both the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.



Now in their 13th editions, his textbooks in anthropology and cultural anthropology have been best-sellers for over 30 years. Conrad also is the author of several books and articles on contemporary American culture, consumer culture, culture change, and cross-cultural approaches to television and media.
